Ashes was created in 2018 from the need to release emotions and fears, transposed into sounds inspired by black metal from the 90s. As the title itself points out, “Into the Woodlands” is a journey - a solitary one, through the forests and into darkness, silence, and oblivion. It is a misanthropic voyage through the sonic landscapes of sorrow, where Man confronts his own soul-devouring demons. Musically, it's a reference to both “Ashes” and “Gloom…”, with the addition of cold, eerie synths that further enhance the atmosphere of hopelessness and melancholy. Such is the sound of Ashes - resembling a voice lost among trees and the echoes of a world slowly fading away. “Into the Woodlands” portrays reality falling apart, where nothing but ire and the realization of emptiness remain. There is no hope here, for it died long ago - along with you and the years that have come to pass. It offers you a chance to reflect - upon yourself, upon the essence of life, and upon death crowned with silence - for in the end, you will be forgotten as well.
