Formed in March 1989, HIDEOUS MANGLEUS quickly made their mark on the early U.S. underground through a series of raw, fearless recordings that bridged death metal, grindcore, and punk. After solidifying their lineup with Sam Biles on vocals, “Feev” on guitars, Joel “Skum” Bonde on bass, and Curt Bonde on drums, the band unleashed their now-legendary All Your Friends Are Dead demo in 1990, recorded at Bob McCutcheon's studio in Penn Hills, Pennsylvania. The tape's mix of blast-driven chaos, grotesque humor, and grimy atmosphere became a cult favorite among tape traders worldwide.
That same year brought the We Live... EP on Thrash Records, followed in 1992 by Unearthing Grandma's Grave on Ecocentric Records, each release pushing their filthy, horror-laced sound to new extremes. Comparisons to Repulsion, early Napalm Death, and Terrorizer came naturally, yet HIDEOUS MANGLEUS always stood apart thanks to their warped personality and uniquely American sense of insanity.
By 1996, the band resurfaced with their full-length All Your Friends Are Dead, recorded at Rock House Studios in Belle Vernon, Pennsylvania. Containing 29 tracks of deranged deathgrind carnage, the album captured everything the band had built up to that point: breakneck speed, infectious riffs, grisly vocals, and a perverse sense of humor. Their demented take on Mötley Crüe's Too Fast for Love remains a highlight, showing how the band could twist anything into their own blood-soaked vision.
Now resurrected by HELLS HEADBANGERS, All Your Friends Are Dead stands once more as a vital piece of grindcore history. Raw, hilarious, and completely unhinged, this reissue finally restores HIDEOUS MANGLEUS to their rightful place among the underground greats and celebrates the enduring legacy of Pittsburgh's original ghouls of grind.
